I was a patient on cleves ward and was under your care. I had not been in hospital for years and I was anxious. You were extremely friendly, kind and took the time to explain what was happening and most importantly to me and my family, you listened. You listened to me and you answered lots of questions that we had and you reassured us. I can’t thank you enough for the care I received, and I wish you well.

Outstanding care! During being with Mr. Patel, I felt safe, confident and well supported - leading to the operation to be an all clear success. I am extremely grateful to have been under Mr. Patel's care. As it has led me to a fast healthy recovery. I will be forever grateful to Mr. Patel and his team for their dedication and support throughout my pre-operative, operative and post-operative care. Thank you.

Mr Patel is great clinician and practises in a very patient-focused way. He’s performed emergency surgery on me and complex cancer surgery for my dad. Both of us are indebted to him for the cares he’s provided to us. Would highly recommend him to everybody.

Mr Patel is incredibly caring and thorough in his investigations and advice. I have had two procedures with Mr Patel and will be sure to trust him with any future ones should they arise. He has always been attentive and respectful and always done what is best for me and has given advice on what he thinks is best for me going forward. I truly appreciate the surgery he conducted for me and really am happy with the recovery from it.

Profile

Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon,
Honorary Clinical Research Fellow Imperial College London,
MB BS, MSc, PhD DIC, FRCS (Gen Surg).

My clinical interests are in minimally invasive (robotic and laparoscopic) surgery for colorectal cancer and benign conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease and diverticulosis. I also specialise in treatments for perianal conditions such as haemorrhoids, anal fistula and anal fissure, as well as general surgical conditions such as hernia.

I graduated from St George’s University of London in 2000. I completed my specialist surgical training in the North West London Deanery. This was followed by two fellowships at St Mark’s Hospital London and the London Colorectal Fellowship (Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital and University College Hospital).

In addition to my clinical work, I have wide research interests which have been established through my MSc in surgical science and a PhD both attained from Imperial College London. My research focuses on collaboration, leadership and mentoring in healthcare, which has culminated in numerous peer-reviewed publications in a broad range of surgical disciplines and international and national conference presentations.

I currently work as a consultant colorectal and general surgeon at Watford General Hospital and Spire Bushey Hospital.
